I read this article the day it came out and like it on my Facebook feed. I ended up too nervous to repost with a smart comment as I had just posted the article about the 375 million real estate sale. This article combined with the one about Mormons not utilizing door-to-door as much would get some to think, I hope. One brother actually posted the article about preaching with the comment that JW's were only ones following Christ's example. A sister commented, adding an insult to Mormons. Took everything I had to a.) not comment so, was Jesus admonishing we insult others that b.) were following his example (since the br. Did just point out how now we are the only ones).

Mormon's using the web to escape their cult.
by cantleave inhttp://www.nytimes.com/2013/07/21/us/some-mormons-search-the-web-and-find-doubt.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0.
when fellow believers in sweden first began coming to him with information from the internet that contradicted the churchs history and teachings, he dismissed it as anti-mormon propaganda, the whisperings of lucifer.
he asked his superiors for help in responding to the members doubts, and when they seemed to only sidestep the questions, mr. mattsson began his own investigation.. but when he discovered credible evidence that the churchs founder, joseph smith, was a polygamist and that thebook of mormon and other scriptures were rife with historical anomalies, mr. mattsson said he felt that the foundation on which he had built his life began to crumble.. around the world and in the united states, where the faith was founded, the mormon church is grappling with a wave of doubt and disillusionment among members who encountered information on the internet that sabotaged what they were taught about their faith, according to interviews with dozens of mormons and those who study the church.. i felt like i had an earthquake under my feet, said mr. mattsson, now an emeritus area authority.

I can scan or fax. It's at my parents house. Can't take it with me. If you need anything else, let me know. My dad has saved everything from the 70's. Actually, my grandmother could have back to 50's. I'll only be up visiting them for a few days, so message me if you need anything.

"Snakes will eat dirt in the new order."
by Comatose ini was talking with a jw i've known a long time and the topic of da new order came up.
she mentioned how nice it will be when all animals are at peace.
i asked why they had camouflage and defensive and offensive weapons if they were to always get along?

Great quote comparison with the Watchtowers. I don't remember seeing that on jwfacts, but it would be a great addition. Nice to have the flip flop quotes handy for us newbies.

Hi everyone !!!
by Durden ini am durden.. a teenager that is an unbaptized publisher and is trying to leave this damn cult !!!.
i have been lurking here for some time and i decided to start posting with this intro.. im from europe, both my parents are jw's, my parents are both teachers (math teachers).. my parents are "softcore" jw's, they accept all my questions and try to answer them.. i am trying to "convert" my dad (an elder which might complicate things), me and my dad recently had various discussions about the org ("discussions" on the good sense of the word).. we talked about jehovah in the nt, 1975, 1914, gb in 1st century, the cross, "new lights" ..., you know the usual stuff.. and all is going well i think, i think i can "convert" him until the end of summer.. i mean is a logical man, what can go wrong ?
man, when i found jwfacts it was like my world had collapsed, all thoses lies .... but its good now to have found the truth.

Welcome! My teenager's lack of interest in "the truth" is part of what led me to reprove it to myself, expecting her to follow suit. I learned about cognitive dissonance, logical fallacies, and the JW pedofile issues in the process. Asking questions is the best approach, it seems. I'll be facing my parents this summer since I've learned TTATT and am a bit leery of how that conversation will go. The key seems to be utilize questions and scan JW info from legitimate newspapers, which you can do online. Then, you have a basis for questions from non-JW sites, which they will have to answer. Glad you found this site!
Carpe Diem!

Fascinating. Thanks for the research Marvin Shilmer. What an excellent topic. I'll have to think of a way to incorporate this in conversation with JW's. it amazes me that anyone in the writing committee stays in the organization.
